How to get here

St. John’s Kirk lies in the very heart of Perth, which itself is at the centre of Scotland’s transport network. However, to make your journey easier, here is how you can find us.

For those with a Sat Nav, the address is: St. John’s Kirk of Perth, St. John’s Place, Perth. PH1 5SZ.

By Car

From all of Scotland’s cities except Inverness, the best route is to approach the Kirk from the interchange at the north end of the Friarton Bridge.

From Aberdeen and Dundee head towards Perth on the A90.  Leave the A90 at Junction 11 just before the Friarton Bridge, taking the slip road to Perth (A85).

From Edinburgh head towards Perth on the M90.  At Junction 10 (Craigend) do not take the slip road to Perth City centre, but continue towards Dundee to reach the Friarton Bridge over the Tay.

From Glasgow and Stirling head towards Perth on the A90.  At the Broxden roundabout on the Perth ring road, take the third exit (M90) to Edinburgh and Dundee.  After two and a half miles take the slip road to Perth and Dundee to join traffic from Edinburgh on the Friarton Bridge.

At the north end of the Friarton Bridge take the slip road to Perth, to join traffic from Dundee on the A85.  Turn left at the first set of traffic lights onto the Queen’s Bridge over the River Tay, and then left again at the traffic lights at the west end of the bridge.  After about 100 yards turn right at the traffic lights onto Canal Street.

From Inverness approach Perth on the A9, and take the first exit from the Inveralmond Roundabout onto the Dunkeld Road. Follow the Brown signs to St. John’s Kirk which lead to Tay Street,  About 100 yards after passing the second bridge over the Tay, turn right at the traffic lights onto Canal Street.

There are several car parks on both sides of Canal Street, including a multi storey park.  From the car parks follow the Brown pedestrian signs and Finger posts to St. John’s Kirk.

By Rail and Bus

The railway station and main bus station are both on Leonard Street.  Turn left from the railway station and right from the bus station and walk down Leonard Street to County Place (AK Bell Library on the left). Turn right onto County Place which comes South Street.  Continue down South Street, cross Methven Street and Scott Street, and then turn left into King Edward Street.  This leads to the City Hall, behind which is St. John’s Kirk.
