At St John’s Kirk of Perth, we are committed to upholding the principles of Fair Work First as part of our dedication to justice, compassion, and dignity for all. We actively apply the Scottish Government’s Fair Work First criteria by:

 

• Providing appropriate channels for effective voice, including regular staff and volunteer meetings, open dialogue with trustees, and opportunities for participation in decision-making processes.

• Investing in workforce development through access to relevant training, skills-building opportunities, and personal development support for staff and volunteers.

• Not using inappropriate zero-hours contracts; we ensure fair, transparent, and secure working arrangements for all paid personnel.

• Taking action to tackle the gender pay gap and create a more diverse and inclusive workplace, welcoming people from all backgrounds and walks of life to contribute and feel valued.

• Committing to paying the real Living Wage to all employees.

• Offering flexible and family-friendly working practices where possible, respecting the work-life balance and wellbeing of staff and volunteers.

• Opposing the use of fire and rehire practices, promoting stability, fairness, and mutual respect in all employment matters.
