St John's Kirk of Perth

In 1991 David Ogston, our then Minister, invited the Orkney poet George Mackay Brown to write a poem to celebrate the 750th anniversary of the re-consecration of the Kirk by Bishop David de Bernham in 1242.
In the poem he gives a wonderful evocation of the childhood of the young John the Baptist, before describing the Kirk built to honour him as a 'Stone Ship Rising'.
