CITY CENTRE CHURCHES

Following the meetings in 2007 of the Task Force set up by Perth Presbytery, representatives of St.John's and St.Leonard's (who have now dropped the "Trinity" part of the name) had further discussions.  A linkage was recommended and accepted by both congregations. The formal Service of Linking took place in St. John's on 17th September 2008.

As part of the basis of Linking, each congregation has one service each Sunday - St.John's at 9.30am and St.Leonard's at 11am.  There will be exceptions when there are special services in St.John's e.g. Remembrance Sunday and The Service of Kirking the Council and Dedication of the Common Good.

A service of Induction took place on 22nd April 2009 to mark the Induction of the Rev. James K. Wallace MA. BD. STM to become the new Minister for St. John's Kirk and St. Leonard's-in-the-Fields.

The four city centre churches - St John's, St Leonards in the Fields, St Matthew's and the North Church - agreed to form a Parish Grouping, and an inaugural service was held on 12th November 2008. The aim of the group is to work `towards one worshipping community'. In order to keep people abreast of what is happening in the grouping, a dedicated page on the St Matthews Church web-site http://stmatthewsperth.co.uk/vacancy.php will be updated at regular intervals.

Homecoming 2009 - St. John's Kirk is not having any special Sunday dedicated to this event. We are happy to welcome visitors at all of our services, and from May to September, the Kirk is open to visitors during the week.
